Cupcakes + Gelato + Sister = A Fun Afternoon: Check it out!

When Juli somehow discovered that Indianapolis has its own cupcake shop, we knew we had to check it out, especially after glancing at their array of flavors. So, yesterday afternoon, Juli came over so we could see what this "Flying Cupcake" is all about (well, she also came over to meet Tonks in person- we had fun watching her tear the feathers out of one of her new toys... photos will follow soon...)

Anyway, while it wasn't hard to find the shop, we did make a small detour into the children's book store next door (quite a delightful place). When we actually made it into the shop, we were pleasantly surprised to find that they also sell gelato (and in flavors that complement the cupcakes!). So, with cupcakes and gelato cups in hand, we sat down to enjoy an atmosphere of nostalgic ambiance:

Okay, so maybe it isn't quite the elegance of The Cupcakery in St. Louis, but it was quite the charming place. The cupcakes also might not be quite as good, but they were very tasty in and of themselves--enough so that whenever any of you come to Indy, The Flying Cupcake is definitely worth a stop-in. It definitely made the afternoon with Juli a fun one (or, I should say, Juli made the afternoon fun by joining me in checking it out).

(for a complete listing of their available cupcakes-including pictures-click here; this way, you're prepared for when you come for a visit! :)

So my plan was, to visit Ems this weekend, stop by the Cupcakery with 'em, and be totally good and ONLY get one for Neil & each of the Southerlands. After all, I have a wedding dress to look fabulous in, in UNDER 2.5 months!!

Thanks to your post, though, I am not altogether sure I will be able to stick to the "plan." DANG those look good! The butter rum ones...the cinnamon ones...the red velvet...ACK ACK ACK!

Why oh why can't cupcakes piled high with icing be part of every girl's diet regimen?? (And no, Weight Watchers dinky little flavorless barely-iced ones don't count...)

Slowly but surely enticing us to come out to visit.... hmm.... You almost have me.

(such a cute place!! Thanks for the photos!)

Actually, Emily tipped me off that her favorite spot "Cupcakes Take The Cake" had a listing of cupcake places in NYC, around the country and even around the world. She thought she'd seen Indy on the list, so I took a closer look and there it was!

Also, Elise failed to mention that our flavors were KooKoo for Coconuts and Peanut Butter Blackout. Yay!

(sorry Genny...)

PS I've found there a couple more cupcake places (in Carmel, no less) but it looks like they're more "make to order" types of places. Except one says it's at the Carmel farmers market on Saturdays. So you might check it out - if you ever get a free Saturday morning...

Anyway, the other places are "Happiness in a Bite" and "Holy Cow, Cupcakes!" Just passing it on...

Mmmmmmmmmmm...cupcakes. I really miss the Cupcakery right now, but I think I miss Em's creations more. Or those mini one's you made, Elise. Okay, gotta stop thinking about it. There is no place for cupcakes in Iraq!

No cupcakes in Iraq? I'm *beginning* to think that place isn't very pleasant...
